Initial Assessment & Interview

What is Initial Assessment?

Students who wish to enrol on an accredited course marked with IA will be required to sit an assessment prior to enrolling. This is an English and Maths assessment which is part computer-based and part paper-based. Please allow up to 2 hours for the assessment and arrive promptly.

All students are required to complete the Initial Assessment, including those progressing from one level to the next.

Once completed, you will receive the outcome immediately and you can then enrol at Reception. In the event your course requires a pre-course interview, you will be able to arrange this with Reception after your Assessment.

Please note: Some students may need to be re-assessed to ensure you are on the right course.

At your Assessment session you may also meet with a Careers Adviser who will be able to help you explore all of your options and help you choose the right course of action for you.

Interview / Information Sessions

Some courses require a pre-enrolment interview or information session. This is to explain the course in more detail and to ensure that the course is right for you and meets your needs. If the course also requires an Initial Assessment, you will need to do this before the interview dates. Course entries will be marked with an i for Interview and IA for Initial Assessment, please see individual course descriptions and course outlines for more information.
