Our Horticulture and Floristry courses offer a diverse range of creative opportunities, from your first steps towards a career in these flourishing industries to more advanced learning or for more leisurely pursuits.
Are you inspired by flowers? Do you have a passion for design and creativity? There is plenty of scope to develop skills on our courses either for personal interest or for work, by learning to create stunning displays and arrangements in a relaxed and friendly place. Whether you are a complete novice, have done some flower arranging or are more experienced and are looking for specialist knowledge to keep up to date with new trends there is something for everyone.
We offer the Floristry Level 2 Certificate with City & Guilds – from student to work ready in one year – it could fit around existing commitments. If you are new to formal learning try one of our Information taster days in July, August, September, October 2017 and May 2018.
Sympathy, Wedding, Dramatic and Gift Designs, try a less formal way of learning where students often go on to take the Level 2 Certificate or up skill for church and celebration flowers or even gain and use skills for work.
Join one of our seasonal courses including Autumn Flowers, Festive workshops where you can design your door, garlands and table decorations, Spring Flowers - an inspiration for Mother’s Day or Easter and Summer Flowers. One day and short courses designed to suit your needs.
For the love of Floristry
There are courses for complete beginners wanting to have a go and those who just have a joy of working with flowers. Look at Floristry Basics, Essentials, Creations and Inspiring Designs and courses for those new to floristry – Tasters and Complete Beginners.
Create your own bridal/bridesmaid hand-tied bouquets, table decorations and button holes with flowers of the season – a complete start to finish working with fresh and current trends. We offer short courses as well as one day workshops. Learn all the skills you need to prepare for that perfect day.
Horticulture & Garden Design
Look for the taster days in July 2017 ahead of the accredited courses for the keen amateur gardener to those changing careers and looking for employment in this industry.
The College is pleased to offer the nationally recognised RHS qualifications. In September 2017 we are offering the Diploma in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture, made up of:
RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture - a comprehensive and practical course for the keen amateur and professional horticulturist offered in Partnership with the Bexley Council and held at Hall Place on Saturdays.
Also with the RHS we offer the two theory based Level 2 Certificate Horticulture qualifications The Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development and The Principles of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance, held in the evenings. These qualifications offer opportunities for employment, but also provide the foundation for further study at Level 3
These courses can be studied alongside work commitment and provide an opportunity to change careers.

Principles of Plant Growth, Health & Applied Propagation: Level 3 Certificate RHS Providing a route to employment in professional horticulture by assessing knowledge of the scientific principles underpinning horticultural practices, it provides a foundation for further learning or training in the field of horticulture
College Certificated Garden Design Level 2 is split into 3 shorter design modules for Planning, Designing and Planting your garden - an introduction for those wanting to redesign their garden or for the prospective garden designers of the future. From drawing to what goes where.
